The mystery of emergent space, time, and matter...this is our reoccurring question.
..how to contemplate the ground of our landscape?
…how to contemplate space?
To search for answers, I began reading books about space and quantum physics (the landscape of the smallest particles of matter). Quantum physics, inspired this series of artworks. I didn’t do the work to illustrate these ideas…but as I was reading about them, I also was painting and Creation Game happened.
Scientists have discovered that space is an energetic field. The universe is often curved and is capable of expansion and compression. Research is now being done on this underlying energy, which exists at every point in space. Richard Feynman, an early quantum theory physicist, said that the energy in a single cubic meter of space is enough to boil all the oceans of the world…
Everything is made of quanta, which are energy packets. The weird thing about them is that they act like and are, in fact, both a particle and a wave. Particles seem to flicker in and out of our world constantly; they materialize and dematerialize all the time, and it’s what everything is made of! Most interestingly, the energy packets (quanta) have been shown to respond to consciousness. Quantum scientists have proven that a conscious observer changes that which is observed, just by looking. We are all participating in this creation game.
